Research has shown that you can reap many benefits in your career by embracing and expressing gratitude.  Gratitude can help you on your job in the following ways: improved networking, goal achievement, improved decision-making, and increased productivity.

As you continue on your professional journey, one way to find your inspiration is to focus on practicing gratitude. And, November is the perfect time for reflection!  Reflect on gratitude for everything you have, for the high points in the low points, for everything you’ve been through and the person you have become. Facing challenges is an important part of growth. If we everything comes easily for us, we never learn the importance of focusing, determination, persistence, and resilience. As a result, we would never have a chance to reach our full potential. If you look at the story of any truly successful person, it is the story of overcoming setbacks and difficulties. See below ideas for practicing gratitude this November. Then, check at the very bottom for some great inspirational items and gifts to build your gratitude.

Reflect on Who has Helped You in Your Career

Take time to say a heartfelt thank you to someone who has helped you in your career. If you look around, you will most likely find more than a few people who have helped you. This may be a trusted mentor who gave you a suggestion on how to approach your career or the hardworking office assistant who made sure that an event when off as planned. Whoever it is, make sure you take the time to say thank you. Everyone wants to feel appreciated and to know that something they have done or said has made a difference. Taking this small step can help inspire others as well as yourself. Strive to make sure that everyone who has helped you, even for a second, know that they had an impact on you. Simple steps, like taking the time to write a handwritten letter can sometimes be all it takes to show your gratitude.

Reflect on Who has Help You in Your Personal Life

Believe or not, this is sometimes the most difficult thing to do and is frequently overlooked. We often take for granted the people we are closest to us. But, having a healthy personal life and a proper work-life balance is critical to having a successful career. There is nothing that helps you thrive more than a supportive environment of family and friends. It can often be easy to overlook these people and assume that your support network will always be there.

To show your gratitude to those in your personal life, you don’t have to buy fancy or expensive gifts. If you want to show your gratitude to your family and friends, the best way to do this is to do something nice, not because you have to, but just because you care. Every now in then, do some extra chores, offer to give your loved one a day off, or even, every once in a while, just remember to say “thank you.”
